You will need (per team)
* one plastic plate
*one toilet roll (buy them, don't use the discarded ones, they are too flimsy)
* one polystyrene egg/ball large enough to sit HORIZONTALLY on the toiler roll
* one plastic jug (no more than half full) and one lighter, for example a paper plate
* goggles
* two objects one light, one heavier: ideally a ball
* access to a smart board to play this video
<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/V4_SLJLeR5w?si=t4yUvAAEIvMv94Si" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" referrerpolicy="strict-origin-when-cross-origin" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Now play them the rules, the top video in the videos and resources tab, appoint an assistant dearest and set up the trays, jugs, plates
Step Two: now let's go through them again:
law number 1
Inertia - nature likes continuity: if an object moves it will go on moving or if it is at rest it will stay at rest UNLESS a force intervenes. This force can be visible ( e.g.: someone flings a pen off a desk0 or invisible: friction, gravity
so, if nobody touches our diving egg construction, what do you expect to happen?
Law number 2 describes the relationship between tan object's mass and the force you need to change its speed
f=m*a
f equal to the mass (m) of an object times its acceleration (a).
Law number 3
this is very famous: for every action there is an opposite and equal reaction
Step four: now start the game: each child needs to whack the plate aside and, if the egg plunged IN the jug, they get two points for the team, if not one for trying.
Please, see videos attached in the training section
Step five: now, get the children in a circle. If convenient, do this outside
and get them to pass each other first one ball/one object you brought (if suitable) (pass with their hands, it's easier to gauge the difference)
Now, proclaim the winner and march them to the gate
