Anterior	In front of The sternum (breastbone), is anterior to the spine
Posterior	Behind The spine is posterior to the sternum
Superior	Above The forehead is superior to the nose
Inferior	Under The nose is inferior to the forehead
Proximal	Near The hip is proximal to the thigh
Distal	Far / further away The ankle is distal to the hip
Medial	Towards the midline The sternum (breastbone), is medial to the lungs
Lateral	Towards the side The lungs are lateral lateral to the sternum (breastbone)
Superficial	Towards the surface The skin is superficial to the skeleton
Deep	Towards the interior The skeleton is deep to the skin
Unilateral	Pertaining to one side
Bilateral	Pertaining to two sides
Afferent	Carrying (e.g. blood, nerve impulse) toward a structure
Efferent	Carrying (e.g. blood, nerve impulse) away from a structure
