| Question | Answer |
| Force | A push or pull that causes an object to change its movement or shape. |
| Magnitude | The size of the force |
| Direction | The way the force is being applied |
| Location | Where in an object the force is being applied |
| Newton | The unit for measuring a force |
| External force | A force that is applied to a structure from something else |
| Mass | The amount of matter in an object |
| Center of gravity | The imaginary point in an object where the downward force of gravity acts. |
| Symmetry | a balanced arrangement of mass that occurs around a center |
| Load | An external force on a structure |
| Static load | The weight of a structure and the non-moving load that it supports. |
| Dynamic load | An external force that moves or changes with time. |
