where do the hormones come from in the endocrine system? thyroid gland (throat area), pituitary, hypothalamus, pineal glands (brain), adrenal gland (above kidneys.
first line of defence barriers? hair, mucus, respiratory system, skin, stomach acids, tears, lysosomes.
second line of defence barriers? non specific white blood cells (phagocytes), fever
third line of defence barriers? specific white blood cells
how does the immune system know when the body is infected? When the white blood cells identify an unfamiliar marker on a cell.
what do b cells do? they make copies of antibodies to defeat antigens and release them into the bloodstream. they also create b memory cells which stay until the body encounters the same antigen again and they have the antibody ready to go.

What is the dependent variable? The result you measure.
What is the controlled variable? The variables you keep the same.
what is reliablility when reviewing an investigation? consistency of results when repeated.
What is validity when reviewing an investigation? Are there controlled variables included? Have all controlled variables been considered?
What is accuracy when reviewing an investigation? How close the measurements are to the true value. The amount of error and mistakes made.
Law of conservation of energy The idea that energy cannot be created or destroyed, only transformed.
Forms of energy Chemical potential energy, gravitational potential energy (GPE), nuclear potential energy, elastic potential energy (EPE), kinetic, thermal, light, mechanical, sound.
