The Empathy Crisis: A Visual Reflection on Modern
Conflict. By Eduard Perez
Narrative: Far-off conflicts are just headlines, easily
swiped away. Empathy is drowned out by digital
noise, making distant suffering feel less real.
Narrative: Constant exposure to distressing news numbs hearts. We become desensitized to the endless
cycle of suffering, leading to empathy fatigue.
Narrative: We live in echo chambers, hearing only what we agree with. Dissenting voices are blocked out,
making it easy to demonize 'the other side' rather than empathize.
10- Admitting in MASS, individual acts of Kindness and the search for truth
load connections. Empathy is light, we must build walls, planks and plants
that give hope to a more compassionate future.
Narrative: Propaganda turns people into monsters. The enemy is no longer
human, making it easy to justify cruelty and erase guilt, thereby stifling
empathy.
9- Narrative: We chase immediate 'victories' and
resources, ignoring the generational trauma. War's true
cost is paid in human suffering, echoing through time,
often without sufficient empathy for the victims
Narrative: War is big business for some, while
devastation and debt are the only returns for others.
Profit motives can suppress compassion and prolong
conflict.
Narrative: Violence enters our homes as
entertainment. The line between reality and
fiction blurs, until horror becomes mundane,
killing our capacity to feel and empathize
Narrative: When truth is muddied and leaders deceive, faith
in systems dissolves. Cynicism flourishes, and the
foundation for collective empathy crumbles.
Narrative: Lost in the mass, we shed our personhood.
Reclaiming our individual hearts is the only way to
build bridges of compassion, rather than blindly
following group mentalities.
Reclaiming Our
Connection
In a world saturated with information and divided
by screens, empathy is not automatic—it is a
conscious choice. How can we break down these
barriers and choose to connect?
